Be in a quiet, comfortable place. If you wish, create a space with a candle, a plant or flowers, a container with water in it, a special stone, or perhaps an image of an animal or other special figure.

It is helpful to have a sense of your orientation, and where each of the 4 Directions are. This can be a general sense, it does not need to be exact.

Above is a fluorite octahedron. This shape has 6 points, 4 square corners, plus one above and one below; as if you placed 2 pyramids together with their bases touching.
